I have lots of different newspapers - mostly The New York Times - all of them are really old (2009-2010). My friend from the USA is keeping them for me and sending sometimes. If anybody needs I can give them.

Me and my husbang - we very often speak English at home, so kids can learn it. Do you speak English with kids?

Well I keep trying to encourage my elder daughter, but slowly and gently. My  if I push too hard she'll lose any interest...
at this stage she knows some phrases, a few simple words, a song or two.

We just speak with my husband (he's good at English too), no teaching, no encouraging...

Things Babies Born in 2011 Will Never Know

it might touch our children in a way as well. What do you think?

0

84

I think that guess about the 20 things is just a guess and it may be some 80% right.
But even if those things fall out of use, our children will know about them from history lessons and museums (my guess is that museums won't be destroyed...)

Not only in the UK they do so, but also in our country there is a tendency to give some "strange" names. Though for some people they seem to be strange, for others they are absolutely normal.

Still? my mother says that it's an awful name - Majka, like a cloth. But I like the name & I know that it used not very often.

ksanka
That's right. It's up to parents to name their baby and no one has to explain their choice!
(But in some cases people just cross the line - not your case, of course)

No one would doubt that there is a great amount of dictionaries. I'm sitting in front of my laptop and searching in the "dict" folder, and suddenly got interested whether you have any dictionaries you adore, dictionaries you trust to and the ones you would buy in case you have some money left from your salary.
so, let's discuss dict-s: ones you use for work, for self-education, for translation and any others that come to your mind and you might say "yeah, this book is worth buying"
as well as electronic means for translation.

I do like Multilex, use Multitran for translation as I got lots of terms (sufficient oil and gas vocabulary), also like Longman Essential Activator, Longman Photo Dictionary.
so now your turn to share your "likes"

I've got Lingvo x3 on my computer, often use Multitran, and yes, Longman dictionaries still come in handy though I've got a few more dictionaries at home - LDCE's been my favourite for many years!
